A traditional Indian wedding dress is a sari. It’s complimented with heavy ornaments. Her hair is usually in a bun and covered with a crown. Covering the head during a wedding is a mark of respect to the deities worshipped and the elders present. The ghunghat, which is equivalent to the veil of the Christian bride, is worn by the bride. Traditional India wedding is usually in red saris, lehengas, salwar suits, etc. it is bright, glittery and ornamented.

Bengali women are very beautiful with big expressive eyes and long black hair. Their beauty is especially sensitive on their wedding day. The unique style of draping their saree makes them look traditionally resplendent. Brides are decorated with big bindis elaborate eye make-up and adorned with heavy ornaments. Mostly Bengalis love to wear Red Color on every special occasion. The traditional saree is generally in white with red or maroon or pink border. Most of the Bridals choose different types of Punjabi Dress ups like inflated lehnga Choli, heavy Punjabi Suits Etc. Trendy brides decides to opt for colors. They choose colors like Orange, Red, Maroon, Magenta & mostly bright colors. The sari or the lehenga is heavily embroidered with phulkari work. Also famous is the nauvari sari which is a sari that is nine-yards in length and is a popular form of trousseau in Maharashtra till date. Usually the jewelry includes gold ornaments with pearls. The bride also wears the famous ‘nath’ which is a pearl crusted nose ring.

A bride from Kashmir has a distinct get-up and tradition from a bride of Kerala etc. Muslim and Islamic weddings are also a characteristic of Indian weddings. The traditional kanjeevaram sari, Paithani sari do exist, but they have been upgraded with more modern designs and motifs like geometrical and abstract designs. The traditional ghagra choli is also now available with more modern patterns and cuts.
